Experience Cumnock History
Cumnock History Group are a constituted Voluntary Group who share an interest in the history and heritage of Cumnock and how the past has influenced the present.
The group emerged as a result of the Memory Bank workshops for Raising the Bar – the archaeological dig focused on the site of the old Tup Inn on Lugar Street earlier this year and run by archaeologists from Northlight Heritage

Great book with recipes easy to follow and a wonderful addition to the hand written recipes Mum left me as well as reminders of my childhood. My family are now looking forward to me trying out some of the biscuit recipes. Well worth the money.

Beautiful design with evocative photography. Extremely good value. Congratulations to all who put this together.
Kay’s battle with gristle reminded me of my own early childhood! As I picked out each horrible piece, I was reminded that many people in the world were starving and would be very grateful for my mince & tatties. My silent reply was, “They’re welcome to them!”
Seriously, the recipes brought back so many pleasant memories of my childhood. I can’t wait to try them.

I love the Cumnock Cookbook and it brought back many memories of my childhood . I’ve bought one for my sister for Christmas too . Many thanks for such a good service .

Great book, makes a good Christmas present. Good, traditional recipes.

From Laurie March on Facebook: I bought myself a wee birthday present and it arrived today. Admittedly, I teared up as I flipped through the pages. I haven’t had tattie scones or cheese pudding since my mom passed away and the shortbread recipe is just like hers (although I don’t need a recipe because she taught me well). It’s a big thing, because most shortbread recipes tend to use things like confectioner’s sugar (icing sugar) rather than caster sugar. Shortbread is all about having the right texture. There is also a lovely lentil soup recipe, which I always thought was just something my mom made, so I was surprised see a very similar recipe in the book.
I am a cookbook author and can be very critical when it comes to what I like in a cookbook. This book is beautiful and well thought out.

I have bought two as gifts for Christmas from the Ayrshire Food Hub as something a little different than the usual commercialised tat. It has wipe clean pages so can be easily cleaned if you’re a messy baker like me. Looks fab and I hope the recipients like it.
