I’ve just came across your history group website today and found a great photo of my great-uncle Andy Walker. I grew up and still live in Fife but when I was a kid we would often visit my grandparents (Archibald and Mary Walker) who latterly lived in Glasgow, he had a shop in Govan. We’d often take a run down to Skares to visit Andy and family, I’ve great memories of being there. I think I still have a few more distant relatives in Ayrshire

Hello Jennifer, what year was your husband in the Cumnock Round Table ?? I was there 1972 - 1975, whilst at the Ballochmyle Hospital. There was a Jack Fleming, who lived in Catrine. His wife, Anne - used to work part time at the Ballochmyle Hospital, in the Telephone Exchange. Also Laurie Brass, a lecturer at Ballochmyle Hospital - he was with the Rotary Club, think with the Cumnock Club. His charming & delightful wife (whose name escapes my mind) with the Inner Wheel - invited me along once, as a Guest Speaker - saying a few words about Tanzania & East Africa !! The Editor of Ayrshire Post, was with the Ayr Round Table. I forget his name too - he invited me to contribute regularly for the weekly Post !

Wonderful times - very fond memories - met so many lovely Scots folks - went to so many Burns Supper (was even invited to give the 'Hail Caledonia' address one year, think 1974).

My warmest regards to all the good folks of South Ayrshire, in most instances - the children & grandchildren of those that I was fortunate to have known then !!... Collapse

Used to keep in touch with several of the Cumnock Round Tablers, but sadly have lost contact over the years! One of my deepest regrets - though did make it for the 50th Anniversary Dinner of the Cumnock Round Table & stayed with Malcolm Ross.

My Great Great Grandfather David Hood has been a brick wall for a long time. Recently discovered he was born in Old Cumnock and found more family on your website. Thank you! Still looking for additional information on his father George who was a coal miner.
